Donate Your Black Recycling Boxes To Beanstalks

How’s this for a positive start to the week. Thanks to Evelyn Knowles for sharing this news. Sounds like a fantastic idea. Ed

FlowersIt started with a chat among a few friends. We heard that the Isle of Wight Council would not be staffing ‘In Bloom’ this year and considered we might take it on.

While discussing how to get started, Chris Kidd from the Ventnor Botanic Garden (VBG) has come up with the offer to provide fully prepared hanging baskets for all the Ventnor shops at £10 a go adding that, under the new VBG regime, they wish to provide a corridor of blooms through Ventnor.

This is really exciting and fits in well with our thinking.

In the meantime, we have named our group ‘BEANSTALKS’ and are asking the public to donate their redundant black boxes which we will fill with a selection of plants both edible and decorative.

These can be put in front gardens adding more colour to the display.

We are looking for more black boxes, spare plants and enthusiasm for the scheme. The VBG are generously providing the compost.

So, out of the gloom and doom of cuts and changes Ventnor will Bloom.
