Drivel Sieve's version of Constable's Corn Field

Drivel Sieve gives ‘The Corn Field’ a unique Isle of Wight makeover

No sooner had the news broken that Newport, Isle of Wight would be the new temporary home (until 11th June) for ‘The Corn Field’ by 18th century landscape artist, John Constable, than one of the Island’s very own artists shared their response.

You may remember Justin Mason, aka Drivel Sieve as he is known on social media, for his excellent series of Isle of Wight Animated Postcards.

Isle of Wight cultural landmarks
Well today Justin delights us with his adaptation of Constable’s Corn Field, by adding some Isle of Wight cultural landmarks. He’s included:

  • The Koan from outside St Mary’s Hospital – designed and built by internationally renowned artist Liliane Lijn in 1997;
  • The giant smuggler from Blackgang Chine – the country’s oldest theme park;
  • The jolly haystack character who brings a smile to the face of those driving past Briddlesford Lodge Farm;
  • Ambassador for the Isle of Wight Derek Sandy, and
  • The suspended service sign for poor old Floating Bridge 6.
