If you’re planning to celebrate Round the Island Race this year, what better way to end the day than sat listening to world class live music?
Lyric soprano and member of the National Opera (Staatsoper unter den Linden) in Berlin, Minjou, makes her solo UK debut in a special song recital on Saturday 28th June 2008 at St Saviour on the Cliff, Queen’s Road, Shanklin.
She will be accompanied by internationally acclaimed artists Dan Ettinger on piano and Stephen Fitzpatrick on harp.
The varied programme opens with the African American Spiritual Over My Head and includes songs and lieder from the classical and operatic repertoire (Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion from Handel’s Messiah; Un Bel Dì Vedremo from Madama Butterfly; Rusalka’s Song To The Moon; Faure’s Après Un Rêve; Ebben Ne Andrò Lontana from La Wally; Gershwin’s Summertime); cabaret and love song (Kurt Weill’s Youkali and Aaron Copland’s Pastorale Since You Love Me); Korean folk songs (Sarang; Arirang; birdsong Saeja-Saeja) and instrumental interludes.
The concert is in aid of Earl Mountbatten Hospice, St. Saviour on the Cliff, Shanklin & St. Catherine’s Church, Ventnor.
