East Cowes Town Council has announced plans for a special community event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
The occasion will take place on Friday 15th August, from 4pm to 10pm, on East Cowes Esplanade.
Remembrance and celebration
The event is intended to bring the community together in remembrance of the end of the Second World War and in celebration of peace.
A programme of activities will run throughout the afternoon and evening, offering something for all ages.
Live music, dog show and beacon lighting
Entertainment will include live music and a dog show.
A beacon lighting ceremony will also form part of the commemorations.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic and enjoy the evening in a relaxed, picnic-friendly setting.
