The women and men from the East Cowes Town Crafters, along with Judith Powell and Joy Cleightonhills guiding the way, have created an impressive and fitting Remembrance tribute.
Emma Urry from the East Cowes Town Crafters told News OnTheWight,
“The group have been knitting, crocheting and cutting fabric poppies for months. So many that we have lost count!
“The commemorative wreath board has five poems, some traditional, some through the eyes of a child.”
East Cowes Crafters would like to thank Nick Greenhaig, the co op manager and Red Funnel for allowing them to use their fences.
Age UK display
Thanks also go to Leigh Taylor, the manager of Age UK IW, for agreeing to collaborate with East Cowes Crafters by letting Jacquie Bennett and Sunday manager, Jo Keightley, create a beautiful window display.
The uniforms were loaned by Jacquie and share the space with poppies made by the crafters, along with information boards.
Emma adds,
“Their window display, alongside the East Cowes Crafters poppy display, means East Cowes has a beautiful informative Remembrance tribute to those that gave their tomorrows for our today.
“They should never be forgotten.”
