Egypt Point incident: Cowes RNLI lifeboat braves windy Solent in wing-foil search

Cowes RNLI lifeboat spent over an hour searching a wind-swept Solent on Monday afternoon, after the wing from a wing-foil was spotted in the water off Egypt Point, Cowes.

Fears that the person from the wing-foil was somewhere in the water led to the lifeboat being tasked by Solent coastguard to carry out an extensive search. It was duly launched at 4.35pm.

Eventually the wing was recovered by the lifeboat off the Bramble Bank. Later it emerged that the person on the wing-foil had in fact made it to the Cowes shore with his foil; the wing was eventually delivered back to him by the lifeboat, before it returned to station at 5.25pm.
