Three Hills Runners - Tom Blackwell

Exciting weekend ahead for Island runners

Thanks to Tom for this latest report from the Ryde Harriers. Ed

First up is the historic Newport to Ryde race on Easter Saturday.

This former road race now winds across the fields and woods above Staplers Road, onto the cycle track near Wootton then dives into Firestone Copse before a tricky finish up from Dame Anthony’s Common onto Ryde High’s playing fields.

West Wight Three Hills race
Easter Monday sees runners heading to Freshwater for the West Wight Three Hills race. This takes in Golden Hill, Headon Warren and Tennyson Down, starting and finishing at West Wight Sports Centre.

You can enter both of these races on the day and there are more details via Ryde Harriers’ new website including venue instructions.

Easter Egg run
If that isn’t enough racing for you then Ryde Harriers annual Easter Egg run takes place on Tuesday 7th at 7:30 from their base at Ryde Rowing Club.

Please bring £1.50 to take part with the nearest runner to their nomination getting first pick of the eggs on offer.

Winter Series
The latest Harriers’ Tuesday night run was another five mile nominated run as the Winter Series reaches its conclusion and it was a very rare double up for Tom Blackwell as he was first across the line and first with his nomination at just eight seconds inside his stated time of 33:33.

Second and third place went to the battling duo of Simon Joy and Sam Cleare who crossed the line together but Simon was ten seconds closer to his nomination. First woman on the night was Sarah Kavanagh in 33:26.
