Leisure Room at Museum of Ryde

Experience Ryde’s hidden treasures at The Museum of Ryde: Open every Monday to Saturday (updated)

Hidden in the basement at the end of the Royal Victoria Arcade, Union Street, Ryde is the Museum of Ryde.

Due to the interest shown at the recent Isle of Wight Volunteers Heritage Fair, the Museum will now be open from 11am to 4pm. every Monday to Saturday.

A hidden gem
The Museum is a hidden gem as it contains a large number of items, displays and photographs showing the history and development of Ryde, its businesses, school, societies and clubs and the unique Ice Well.

The Museum also houses the infamous Donald McGill collection of ‘Saucy Postcards’ that resulted in Donald being arrested for publicising obscenity!

Mini-talk
On Thursday 23rd March at 2.30pm Jo Cooper, local author and volunteer at the Museum will be giving a talk on items in the Museum collection.

This will be in the Tony Packer Room in the Museum. Tea/coffee and cake will be available. All Welcome. £4 per person. Members of Museum free.
