Shot from Of Horses and Men :

Extra screenings for Film Society starting tonight with Icelandic film

Thanks to Lin from the Ventnor Film Society for this latest news from the film society. Ed

Ten years after Ventnor Film Society first opened at the Botanic Garden, film in Ventnor is more popular than ever.

Over time, screenings moved to the Winter Gardens and St Boniface School before settling into the Ventnor Arts Club on the High Street.

With the club’s central location and comfortable seating, our audience numbers have been growing; every film this season has been fully booked within days and we have regretfully had to disappoint some people.

Extra screenings
As a result we have decided to experiment with two screenings for the remaining five films of this season and will offer viewers the choice of attending on a Tuesday or a Wednesday.

This week, we have some seats available for Wednesday’s showing of Of Horses and Men, an Icelandic film about the unique Icelandic horses and the people who live and work with them.

Upcoming films
Also showing this season are The Past, a French language film from the award winning Iranian director Asghar Farhadi, and Tracks, the story of one woman’s trek across the Australian desert with just four camels and a dog for company.

Broken Circle Breakdown is an intense drama set to a foot-tapping bluegrass soundtrack and our final film will be the Japanese animation The Wind Rises.

Vital to reserve your seat
Seats can be booked by emailing [email protected] and entrance is £5, payable on the door.

Full details of all our films, with links to reviews and trailers can be found on our website and are listed on Events OnTheWight.
