Fancy getting philosophical? In a pub?

OnTheWight reader, Paul Carter, has been in touch with an idea we’re sure many of you will be keen on.

When he spends time in Southport, Paul takes part in something called ‘Philosophy in Pubs’.

A group of interested individuals meet every two weeks for a couple of hours to discuss a variety of issues, such as:

  • Has politics failed us?
  • Can you be truly altruistic?
  • Do animals have rights?
  • What would you like on your memorial? Why?

Without intellectual pretensions
Paul says it’s a friendly get-together without intellectual pretensions and wonders whether there would be an appetite for such a group in South Wight.

Paul says the ideal number at each meeting is around 12 people.
