Father Christmas was ‘all at sea’ thanks to Cowes Lifeboat

Santa gave his reindeer and sleigh the afternoon off on Sunday, when he took a ride in a lifeboat to drop into a Christmas food and gift fair at Cowes.

The RNLI’s Cowes-based Atlantic 85 Sheena Louise conveyed Santa to the event, held in Red Funnel’s Fountain Yard.

Two of the station’s women crew donned suitably seasonal headgear to take on the role of his elves.

A busy afternoon for Santa
Santa, who had a passing resemblance to another crew member, Peter Tarrant, was kept busy in the huge marquee handing out sweets to youngsters and listening to their wishes for presents.

Meanwhile other crew members carried out a bucket collection for the charity.
