Find out how cross-solent travel is affected by the storm (updated)

As forecast on Saturday, the Island is currently being battered by severe gale force winds.

If you’re going to be crossing the Solent this morning, be aware that the Hover service is currently suspended due to the high winds.

Wightlink
One of the Wightlink catamarans has been out of service due to mechanical problems. The latest update says,

Unfortunately the P-R 0840 sailing has been cancelled due to the mechanical problem. Normal service resumes after this though (from 9.10)

11.20: Wightlink say, “We’re sorry but due to high winds in the Solent our Lymington – Yarmouth service is running around 45 minutes late and out Portsmouth – Ryde catamaran service is running around 30 minutes late. Our Portsmouth – Fishbourne car ferry is running to its advertised timetable.”

11.34: Wightlink say, “Due to the high winds we’ve had to cancel the 1115 P-R & 1147 R-P catamaran sailings. We hope the next sailing be at 1215 from P-R.”

12.58: Wightlink say, “We’re pleased to let you know that all our services are now running to schedule.”

10.33: Red Funnel say, “We regret to inform that due to the ebb tide in ECowes our vehicle ferry service currently suspended”

10.51: Red Funnel say, “All services are currently suspended due to high winds in the Solent”

11.47: Red Funnel say, “We are pleased to announce that our vehicle ferry has resumed service, however we are running approximately 1 hour behind timetable.”

12.21: Red Funnel say, “High Speed travel alert – the 1245 from Southampton is going to run and we shall return to service”

2.46: Red Funnel say, “All High Speed services are still operating to timetable, however our vehicle ferry is still 1hr and 15mins behind time due to earlier suspension to service. We are still trying to make the time back and reduce delays, and apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
