Lifeguard hut:

Find how you can train to be a lifeguard

Thanks to Clare from West Wight Sports Centre for details of this training course. Ed

West Wight Sports Centre Trust, the charity that runs West Wight Sports Centre is providing an opportunity for people to gain essential skills to allow them to gain employment as a lifeguard.

The Centre has to provide training courses for its staff in order to operate the swimming pool safely and in May it is offering spare places on the course to the general public.

Find work with new skills
With the summer approaching hotels and holiday camps with pools will be starting to look for qualified lifeguards, so this is an opportunity for people seeking work to gain a skill that may provide them with employment.

Candidates need to be able to swim 100 metres on their front and back without stopping, swim 50 metres in under one minute, recover an object from a depth of three metres and be aged 16 or over.

Course at end of May
We are a community facility and we’re pleased to be able to share our training resources. Hopefully there are people out there who see this is as an opportunity to gain a qualification and that it will lead to employment for them.

The course runs from Monday May 27th until Saturday June 1st.

A contribution towards the costs of £199 is required.
