The Solent Offshore Renewable Energy Consortium (SOREC) is staging the event at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton on Friday 15 May.
The event is specifically designed to look at the role of developers and small and medium-sized businesses in areas ranging from technology to environmental issues in relation to tidal energy.
There will be key information about: developments in tidal energy around the world and locally; accessing facilities and expertise; funding; testing and sea trials; commercialisation and crowd funding; and collaborations with other interested businesses.
What is SOREC?
SOREC is a European Regional Development Fund project led by the Isle of Wight Council, and is creating and providing business support programmes for a network of companies in the south east – including on the Isle of Wight – that are part of the offshore renewable energy industry.

The development of renewable energy technologies and making use of the Island’s abundant natural resources has been a key element of the council’s economic development and sustainable community strategies for a number of years. The SOREC project is a practical activity developed by the council as part of these strategies, to encourage companies to diversify into the marine renewable energy sector.
