Flooding leads to pub closure

Several parts of the Island have been hit by the heavy rain which sparked an Environment Agency flood warning earlier today for the entire Eastern Yar area.

The Sloop Inn at Wootton Bridge have had to turn away customers this afternoon due to flooding.

As can be seen from the photo above, the car park has flooded to the extent that you’d probably need wellies to get out of your car. As the car park slopes down to the pub, we can imagine things are worse inside.

Surface water on roads has been reported across the Island, so take care if you’re out on the roads.
