The Yarmouth All Weather Lifeboat (ALB) was called to assist a 26ft motor boat with engine failure in Christchurch Bay during the afternoon of 5th June.
It was an hour before the lifeboat was alongside the casualty, as the search area was shrouded in dense fog with very limited visibility.
Fortunately the wind was very light and another vessel assisted the lifeboat with communications in order to pin point her position.
The casualty was eventually taken in tow and, together with its four crew, arrived safely in Yarmouth after three and a half hours. Apart from a minor injury to one of the lifeboat’s crew men sustained during the rescue, there were no other injuries.
