Hundreds of riders take part in Absent Friends Ride

Phil Jennings has a few thank yous to share after Saturday’s Absent Friends Ride. Ed

Thank you to everybody who came to Saturday’s Absent Friends Ride. Thank you to the staff at Smallbrook Staduim for setting us up with tea and coffee, and giving us a starting point.

Thank you to all of the people, and particularly the kids who waved at us along the way.

Patient drivers
Thank you to the drivers, who waited for us, let us out, and waved us on.

Thank you for your patience when you were behind us doing between 20 and 30mph, and thank you for your patience while we rode slowly up and down the dual carriageway.

And thank you to all at Newport Football Club, for the finishing point, the food and the tea and coffee. Much appreciated.

Remembering 110 riders
The 280ish bikes that took part, remembered 110 riders, killed or seriously injured, on the Island’s roads in the last seven years, in road traffic incidents (RTIs).

We raised about £425 for The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, and about £55 Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Thank you everyone for your generosity.

Thanks to volunteers and supporters
We appreciate the time and effort the staff at the start and finish venues put in for us, for free.

Thank you to Dave Death Motorcycles, and Pit Stop Training for their support, and to the local Police for their involvement with the organisation and running of the event.

Our thanks to ‎Gary Bennett for sharing this great video of the riders.
