Food hygiene ratings: How did the Isle of Wight eateries fare?

Isle of Wight restaurants, takeaways and cafes are among businesses which have been visited by food hygiene inspectors since Christmas.

The Isle of Wight council’s environmental health officers have been visiting businesses to see if they are meeting the hygiene requirements.

What inspectors look for
Judging on Food Standards Agency guidelines, inspectors look to see how hygienic food handling, making and processing businesses are; what food safety management procedures are in place and how clean the facilities are.

The inspectors then dish out a rating between five and zero, where the higher the score the better the food hygiene rating.
