Red Funnel have been in touch with VB to inform us that a minor fire broke out on the 9am crossing from Southampton to East Cowes this morning.
The fire, which was in the aft engine room was dealt with quickly and extinguished by the crew. Red Funnel tell us that at no time was the safety of passengers compromised.
The fire caused just a few minutes delay to the crossing and continues to be in service today with no further delays anticipated.
