Brave Island currently has four new opportunities for young people across the Isle of Wight, each offering unique experiences at no cost.
The organisation welcomes applications from anyone aged 14 to 25 who registers with their programme, and the deadline is looming for the first three opportunities below.
Recognition and financial support
The Young Creative of the Month programme will award £100 to one successful applicant.
The winner will also receive promotion across Brave Island’s various communication channels.
Applicants must provide details about their creative work when applying.
The current application window closes on 22nd September 2025.
Exhibition opportunities
The Isle of Wight Young Artist Award 2025 offers emerging artists a platform to showcase their work.
Quay Arts has partnered with Brave Island to run the competition.
Selected pieces will feature in an exhibition running from October through November at the Quay Arts venue.
Artists have until 22nd September 2025 to submit their entries.
Creative skills development
A pottery making workshop offers beginners the chance to learn traditional clay techniques.
Participants will try wheel throwing, hand-building and sculpting in a supportive environment designed for newcomers to the craft.
The workshop requires applications by 24th September 2025.
Nature and learning combined
Young Islanders can now explore the natural world through a guided autumn foraging experience.
Joseph from Fieldstudy will lead the Social: Autumn Foraging Walk, teaching participants to identify various plants and fungi.
The session will also cover the practical uses of foraged materials.
Those interested must register by 9th October 2025.
Open access for all
These four programmes maintain Brave Island’s commitment to free access for young people.
The organisation continues to welcome applications from all 14 to 25-year-olds on the Island who sign up to participate.
