Police are publishing photographs of suspected stolen property to support an appeal to trace victims of vehicle crimes in Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
The town’s Safer Neighbourhoods team is continuing to investigate recent reports of criminal damage and thefts affecting motor vehicles.
Sergeant Mike Sizer of the Cowes Safer Neighbourhoods team said: “There has been a noticeable increase of vehicle crime in the town since the start of the year. It’s become a policing priority for officers who have responded swiftly to information from the public and arrested suspects. Thank you to everyone who has contacted police already.
Recovered property
“We’ve recovered a significant amount of property, which we believe was stolen from cars parked in Cowes. This property includes an extremely wide range of personal and commercial items. We’re appealing through the media for anyone who recognises any of their personal property in these photographs to contact the police. We want to trace the rightful owners of these items urgently.”
The photographs can be seen online
Sergeant Sizer added: “Police would also like to take this opportunity to remind motorists about crime prevention advice. Please ensure you lock your vehicle while unattended, and try not to leave high value items in your vehicles or other attractive portable items on display.”
