The quality of design and editorial content continues to impress us here at VentnorBlog.
It’s hard to believe that the mag is produced almost entirely by young people, but it’s true.
Who’s On The Team?
The senior management team on the publication is made up by Mhairi Macaulay, Lizzie Woolfenden and Thea Welsford. They have the support of senior editors, Collette Wright and Eliesha Penner with Matt Matthews as Senior Designer.
The team is completed with another 25 or so contributors, with subjects ranging in this issue from sexual health to film, music, the young chamber and everything you need to know if you’re planning to look for work.
There’s a great fashion spread by Annie Leonard and Harriet Lowe charting the fashions from the 50s onwards and a great guide to getting fit, whatever your budget.
Where Can I Get One?
The mag is free and you can pick up a copy from the following outlets on the Wight; All Blockbusters, Connexions, IOW College, Quay Arts, IOW Youth Trust, My House, Switch 45, Southern Vectis, Libraries, LA Bowl, Commodore Cinema, Dimbola Lodge, The Ventnorian and Suze’s Room (both in Ventnor).
When the project kicked off last year, (you might remember the podcasts we put out after the launch – see below) it had the benefit of financial assistance from Creative Partnerships. Unfortunately that funding has now been removed from the Island, but Fusion has continued on and now has three issues under it’s belt with another one due out in the summer.
Advertise With Fusion
Due to the lack of financial support from Creative Partnerships, the magazine is now reliant upon advertising from Island businesses. If you’d like to advertise in the next issue, do get in touch with Russell Ince, one of the project co-ordinators on russell(at)waxcrayon-design.com and don’t forget to tell him where you heard about it.
Launch Podcasts
Whilst at the launch of the Mag last year, we took the opportunity to chat with members of the team as well as the adults involved on the project co-ordination side.
