In this line of work, we’re luckily enough to have the opportunity to meet people we might not have otherwise come across.
When we do, we’re often amazed by the wealth of interesting and fascinating characters that move around most of us on a daily basis, without us realising their talents.
Professor Geoff Pilkington: World-leading scientist
For example, those who share the commuter ferry to Portsmouth each morning with the chap pictured above, Professor Geoff Pilkington, probably have no idea that he’s a world expert in cellular and molecular neuro-oncology.
An article in today’s Guardian reveals all about Geoff, who lives on the Isle of Wight and works at the University of Portsmouth.
He’s a leader in the field of Brain Tumour Research and was instrumental in the formation of the charity, Brain Tumour Research.
In the Guardian article, Geoff shares a typical day at the lab, in their Day In The Life of series.
If you want to find out more about the work of Brain Tumour Research at Portsmouth University, Geoff takes us on a tour of the lab in this video below.
