This isn’t the name of a swanky new restaurant or club, but the real thing.
We know that Ventnor has a history of ground stability problems, but didn’t expect this one.
The CP are reporting that a large hole discovered in Ocean View Road earlier this week was caused by a ‘geological vent’ opening up.
Luckily it’s at the side of the road and not under anyone’s house.
Head of Highways, Peter Hayward told the CP, “We plan to cap the hole with a reinforced concrete slab as a matter of priority.”
It does mean that traffic up and down the road is subject to delays as lights have been erected to allow only one lane of traffic at a time.
Any geology experts out there?
Not being experts in geology, we’re wondering if any VB readers can shed more light on what a ‘geological vent’ is. Google wasn’t able to help much.
