German kitchen supplier heading to Newport

Another empty shop premises in Newport could be filled if a national kitchen chain comes to town.

Kutchenhaus, providers of German traditional or modern made-to-measure kitchens, is looking to take over part of the former Maplin store at the Coppins Bridge Retail and Leisure Park.

Winter 2022 opening
The store is set to open this winter, with signage placed on the building as soon as 1st August, if a planning application is approved.

The national kitchen showroom chain has nearly 60 stores across the country.

Shop to be divided into two
It would join other big names such as The Gym Group, Cineworld, Pizza Hut, Burger King and KFC at the Coppins Bridge location.

Plans would see the former electronics store divided into two, with the kitchen showroom filling a 1,800 square foot unit.

Maplin closed its Island store, and subsequently its online brand, in 2018.

You can view the signage plans, 22/00954/ADV, on the Isle of Wight Council’s planning register.

The public consultation runs until 15th July.
