Ventnor resident, Gillian Jenner, was last night co-opted onto Ventnor Town Council.
The Mayor told those attending the VTC meeting that only two people had applied for the position, with the other person pulling out.
Gilly recently received 191 votes during the election for another seat in Ventnor East.
As Gilly is well known to many of the councillors and in a relationship with one councillor, the legalities of her co-option was checked with County Hall who reported no problem with her co-option.
All councillors (with Cllr Bonney abstaining) voted in favour of her co-option which was met by a round of applause from the public audience.
We’re sure that Gilly will be a valuable asset to the Ventnor Town Council
