Gold stars for Isle of Wight pre-school from Ofsted

Congratulations are in order for all in the pre-school at Broadlea Primary School, Sandown.

Ofsted have published their latest inspection report today and have rated Berry Hill Childcare as ‘Good’ overall, with and ‘Outstanding’ rating for “Personal development, behaviour and welfare”.

This provision is good

  • Enthusiastic staff complete regular and precise assessments of children and use these effectively to plan suitably challenging activities. Children are keen to explore and learn.
  • The pre-school has a very strong commitment to partnership working with parents, external agencies and other providers should they have a concern for a child’s development. Leaders collate all contributions to offer highly targeted activities and to support these children to make good progress towards the early learning goals.
  • Staff support children’s physical, personal, social and emotional development exceptionally well. They place a sharp focus on building up children’s communication and social skills, ready for the next stage in their learning and their move to school.
  • Children behave extremely well. Staff are very consistent in their routines and management of behaviour. They display courtesy, kindness and consideration for the feelings of others, and children copy their excellent conduct.
  • Leaders provide good support for staff and encourage further training to support their continued professional development and extend their teaching skills further.
