Good quality donations needed for auction to help send 22 Isle of Wight Scouts to World Jamboree

2nd Cowes Sea Scouts have two young people who have been selected to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree to be held in SaeManGeum, South Korea in August 2023.  

The Group are hold an auction to raise funds to support their young people, aged 14 to 18. 

40,000 young people attending the Jamboree
The Jamboree in Korea in 2023 will be largest Scout camp to be held since the start of the Covid Pandemic with over 40,000 young people from almost every nation on earth taking part. 

25th World Scout Jamboree at SaeManGeum, South Korea

The two Scouts from 2nd Cowes are part of a 22 strong group from the Isle of Wight who are part of the 3,240 strong UK Contingent. 

The auction
The auction takes place at the 2nd Cowes Sea Scouts Headquarters at Smithards Lane, Cowes, PO31 7PL on Saturday 16th July 2022.  

Viewing is from 9am to 11am; the auction starts at 11:30am.   

Everyone is welcome to attend.  Refreshments will be available. 

Donations of good quality items
The Group are appealing for donations of good quality items which can be auctioned.

Training camps and team building in preparation
Between now and July 2023 the young people from the Island will attend training camps and team building events preparing them for living on the hot and humid site in SaeManGeum, Korea.

The cost of attending the World Jamboree and the associated training is £3,995 per head and Island Scouts are busy fundraising with aim of achieving £44,000 (i.e., £2,000 per head) by August 2023.  

The rest of the cost will be met through personal contribution. 

Simpson: A fantastic opportunity for these Scouts
Dave Simpson, County Commissioner for Isle of Wight Scouts said,

“This is a fantastic opportunity for these Scouts and one of the largest contingents we have sent to a World Scout Jamboree.
