Great line-up confirmed for Acoustic Originals

Thanks to Ceri for news of this month’s Acoustic Originals, always a great night out. Ed

Quay Arts are delighted to announce the line-up for the first Acoustic Originals of 2014 on Monday 27 January in the warmth of the Quay Arts Cafe Bar. Presenting a characteristically eclectic line-up featuring the best new original music from the Island and beyond. The line-up is announced is:

Ben Stubbs
A young singer-songwriter from our very own shores, Ben Stubbs is a promising new talent. His confident style is mature and understated and although he cites The Beatles, Jack Johnson and Ed Sheeran as influences, he says he has diverse taste and is not afraid of innovation.

Ben Jordan
Ben has delighted us before with his considerable talent and we’re thrilled he’s agreed to fit us into his busy touring schedule once again. A gifted instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter, Jordan has recorded several solo albums and tours extensively performing his brand of folk/Americana. Jordan describes himself as a journeyman, always learning and honing his craft and his warm, authentic presence wins him support wherever he goes.

Signals
Female fronted Signals is an indie / math rock four-piece from the Isle of Wight. Their style is distinctive and captivating, with Ellie’s soaring lead vocals and harmonies from the rest of the band, intricate rhythms and melodies which strike that elusive balance between catchy enough to get stuck in your head and surprising enough to keep you interested. 2013 saw them release their EP, ‘Facial Furniture’, perform a set on the main stage at Bestival and receive radio airplay on BBC Introducing. They’ve put together a completely stripped down acoustic set just for you – an Acoustic Originals exclusive.

Jack Williams
Jack Williams is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter from Southampton. He takes influence from the likes of Bon Iver, City & Colour, John Mark McMillan and Mumford & Sons, yet has managed to create his own distinct sound. Jack has played many shows around Southampton and we’re excited to have him on the Acoustic Originals line-up for the first time. He has recently been noticed by an A&R team working for Daylight Music Productions who are working with him over the coming months to push Jack towards the success he deserves.

“A jaw-dropping performance to say the very least. Consistently impressive throughout his set with exceptional guitar riffs which emphasized his insane talent….A world class, must-see act, the sky is the limit for him.” – Mel Jones Reviews

Duveaux
5 piece Duveaux is fronted by singer, songwriter and all round charming chappy, Dan Duveaux, who has been delighting crowds with his flamboyant approach to frontmanship for several years. With songs featuring a variety of influences from David Bowie to The Strokes, they’ll be stripping back their usually thunderous set to its bare, acoustic bones. Not to be missed.

Entry to Quay Arts for Acoustic Originals on Monday 27 January is free and everyone is welcome, doors and bar is from 7pm with live performances from 8pm. For more information please call the Box Office on 01983 822490.
