Great South Runners raising money for Island-wide charities

Thanks to Kelly for sharing news of these fundraising efforts by local Doctor and Nurses. Ed

Dr Jac Tracey of YMCA Children’s Bereavement Service and a team of four nurses from the Isle of Wight Children’s Community Nursing Team, Emma Woodfield, Becky Hepworth, Angela O’Hanlon and Amy Daly have joined forces to take part in this years Bupa Great South Run to help raise funds for two Island-wide charities.

The run located in Southsea, Portsmouth is ten miles long and takes place on the 28th October 2012.

Two charities to benefit
The team are all of varying levels of fitness but the majority are starting from scratch and despite a couple of injuries are building up to the ten mile distance nicely.

The nurses are raising money for Layla’s Trust which seeks to provide support for bereaved families who have lost children, and to families who have disabled or terminally ill children; whilst Dr Jac Tracey is running for YMCA Children’s Bereavement Service which offers counselling and support to children and young people on the Isle of Wight who have experienced the death of someone close to them.
