A free screening of the People’s Emergency Briefing film takes place at The Green Room in Salisbury Gardens, Ventnor, on Thursday 4th June 2026, from 7pm to 9pm.
What is the People’s Emergency Briefing?
The film draws on a National Emergency Briefing held at Westminster in November 2025, where an invited audience of over 1,000 politicians and leaders from business, culture, and the media heard from ten experts setting out the implications of climate and nature breakdown for health, food systems, national security, and the economy.
Released on 7th April 2026, the People’s Emergency Briefing presents those national implications – along with credible, positive responses – in a single, accessible account designed for screening in communities across the UK.
The 50-minute film covers the latest evidence on how climate and nature breakdown affects everyday life in the UK, including extreme weather, food security, health, and the cost of living.
Familiar faces alongside leading scientists
Chris Packham and nine of the UK’s leading experts present the latest evidence, alongside reactions from members of the public and familiar faces including Jennifer Saunders and Adam Buxton.
Deborah Meaden also appears in the film, which received coverage from ITV, Channel 4, and The Times following the original Westminster event.
A national screening campaign
Organisers have registered more than 2,100 screening hosts and are aiming to reach all 650 UK constituencies before the end of 2026 – a footprint that already exceeds, by more than double, the total number of cinemas in the country.
The National Emergency Briefing initiative receives support from organisations including the National Trust, RSPB, CPRE, several UK universities, and the Royal Meteorological Society.
Local discussion to follow
After the screening, attendees will take part in an open discussion about what the film’s findings mean for the Isle of Wight community and what action people can take locally.
The Green Room is located at Salisbury Gardens, Dudley Road, Ventnor, PO38 1EJ.
