Congratulations to the Grove House Surgery team who Walked The Wight last Sunday. Mike tells us how they got on. Ed
After completing the 14 mile Carisbrooke to Alum Bay section of Walk the Wight last year. In a moment of euphoric madness, some of us from Grove House Surgery vowed to walk the whole 26.5 miles this year!
Well, with gauntlet thrown down, the hard miles of training commenced and we eventually arrived at the Bembridge Airport start line, bright and early, on Sunday 13th May with a mixture of nervous anticipation and fear.
The team was depleted from last year’s excellent complement of eight, but the results were even more impressive with Dr Stephen Doggett and Practice Manager Mike Jukes completing the full walk and the rest of the team finishing at Carisbrooke.
£600 raised
To date, sponsorship has reached £500, including over £100 from patients at the surgery and, with other pledges, the amount raised should be in excess of £600.
The picture shows Practice Manager Mike at Alum Bay after the walk. The half smile, half grimace expresses all – the pride and satisfaction of finishing tempered by the blisters and aching leg muscles!
Well done to you for your efforts. Ed
