Growing Spaces Scheme Extended: Sign Up Now

Have you heard about the Growing Spaces scheme? It’s a community based project that has provided raised beds to ‘grow your own’ for over 100 households alone since March this year.

Growing Spaces Scheme Extended: Sign Up NowThe Growing Spaces scheme has been going from strength to strength over the last couple of years and has proved so popular that next year more people are being invited to take advantage of the initiative.

The project which is run be Medina Housing has just won another round of funding from the Big Lottery Local Food Grants Scheme meaning that many others can benefit from raised beds to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

Organisers of the scheme are now looking for another 75 households from Pan and the Oakfield and Elmfield areas of Ryde to take part next year.

If you live in a flat, they can add the raised beds in the communal gardens and we understand that you don’t even have to be a resident of Medina Housing to take part.

What will you get?
This great project will provide you with a purpose-built raised bed in your garden filled with soil and compost.

They’ll give you seeds and plants as well as all the information you need to look after them.

There’s even a training programme with drop-in sessions, an advice line, Website information and information leaflets.

At the end of each growing season, we will hold a community-based Garden Show with competitions, prizes, and a chance to meet other people involved in the project.
