Hambrough Road Railings: Great Work

Hambrough Road Railings: Great WorkIf you’ve been down Hambrough Road recently you might’ve noticed the lovely new railings alongside the public gardens there.

We heard some time ago from Matthew Chatfield, Head of Parks and Countryside that the old railings were due to be replaced.

If our memories serve us correctly, he told us that standard railings were due to be ordered for the job.

However, after he attended the excellent talk by Sue Clifford from Common Ground at the Quay Arts in January, he made sure that something more fitting for the Victorian surroundings would be ordered.

Hambrough Road Railings: Great WorkWell, the work is complete now and we think you’ll agree that they’ve done a smashing job on the replacement of the very tired railings.

Just in time for the tourist season too. Well done everyone in Parks and Countryside who worked on this project helping conserve the wonderful fragile beauty of Ventnor.

If you want to keep an eye on other great work taking place around the town, check out the Ventnor 2008 Flickr Stream where these images are from.

Thanks to Mark for the pointer to the pics and reminding us about this work.
