News reaches us that this Friday a new Website is being launched by the Hampshire Constabulary.
As you might expect, it’s a crime busting site, but focuses specifically on prevention of marine crime.
Under the new initiative, members of the The Hampshire Marine Watch who use The Solent will be alerted to possible crime or threat of crime by email and SMS.
It’s hoped that the service will be of huge benefit to those sailing, members in sailing clubs, harbour masters and boat owners from Southampton, Portsmouth, Hamble, Lymington, Ryde, Newport, Cowes, Porchester and Fareham, plus many others by immediately notifying of marine related thefts, as well as missing persons at sea.
The Hampshire Constabulary are keen for as many users of the Solent to join up to the scheme.
If you want to find out more, get in touch with either Sgt Jeremy Tremellen on 0845 045 45 45 ex 323 or Hampshire Marine Watch Website Admin on [email protected].
You can also pre-register for updates on the temporary new Hampshire Marine Watch Website.
