Royal Caribbean International's Harmony of the Seas,

Harmony of the Seas: World’s largest cruise ship to pass Isle of Wight

She is the length of four football pitches, is 71m high, has 23 swimming pools and can carry almost 5,500 passengers.

Harmony of the Seas, a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, will depart Southampton today (at 5.30pm) on her maiden voyage.

A busy start
She’ll be embarking on a four night cruise to Rotterdam, returning to Southampton later this week, before heading off to Cherbourg for a three night cruise.

If you miss her today, don’t worry, there’ll be other chances to see her pass the Isle of Wight late this month because after Cherbourg, she’ll be heading back to Southampton ready for another cruise, this time to Barcelona on 29th May.

It’s a busy time for the port today, with three other large cruise ships leaving just an hour before, Ventura, Celebrity Eclipse and Queen Victoria.

Largest ship in the world (atm)
This mega cruise ship will have an identical sister ship (as yet unnamed) joining her 2018, so at the moment, she’s making the most of holding the title of the largest cruise ship in the world.

Those tracking her movements will have seen that she’s been on a little jaunt up and down the channel at Southampton over the weekend, but will be setting off on her maiden voyage at 5.30pm today (Sunday).

It’s bonkers
Some of these photos below from Royal Caribbean give you an idea of what’s on board.
