If you’ve had your bike stolen on the Isle of Wight recently you might be in luck. Police find a stash of bikes. Ed
Police are appealing for information about recent thefts of bicycles on the Isle of Wight.
The Sandown Bay Safer Neighbourhoods team executed a search warrant at an address in Parsonage Road in Sandown on September 22, 2010.
Officers recovered a number of bicycles and cycle parts that are suspected of being stolen.
PC Andy Vaughan from the Sandown Bay Safer Neighbourhoods team (SNT) said: “We believe a group of thieves have been stealing bikes so they can disassemble, respray and rebuild them out of the component parts.
“Several bicycles have been identified already and it appears some of the other bikes recovered come from all over the island.
Appeal to Islanders
“We continue to pursue forensic lines of enquiry, but are also publishing photographs of the remaining bicycles we need to identify.
“I’m appealing for members of the public to spend a few minutes looking at the bicycles so we can trace their rightful owners and gather further evidence on suspects believed to be responsible for these thefts.”
