Head to Ventnor Exchange to see Big Art Auction items

The Ventnor Skatepark launched their second Big Art Auction at the weekend.

The three-week long online auction has got off to a great start, with many more items than the first auction now up for grabs.

Two weeks to see auction in person
We had thought you’d only be able to see the artwork in person at the launch, but you can in fact pop along to Ventnor Exchange in the next two weeks and marvel at the fantastic range of items for sale.

Apart from scheduled events or workshops the Ventnor Exchange is open from 5pm – 11pm Tuesday to Friday and then 10am – 11pm on Saturdays. You can find it off Ventnor High Street, opposite Church Street Motorcycles.

You’ll be able to enjoy a craft beer or tea/coffee from the bar and browse the record shop.

If you can’t make it in person to see the artwork, head to the Big Art Auction Website, where almost all items are now loaded (all will be loaded by Wednesday).

Bidding has already started on many items and you can continue bidding until 28th November.

What’s it for?
The 12-month £50,000 fundraising challenge was launched in March 2015.

The plans are to raise enough funding – through events and donations as well as grants – to build a concrete skatepark at the site of the current wooden ramps at the eastern end of Ventnor esplanade.

Designs were showcased at the launch event on Saturday evening and will be available publicly very soon.

If there’s nothing in the auction that takes your fancy but you’d still like to donate to the project you can do so via GoFundMe.

Excellent letter firmly putting Finney in his place.

Is this the last in this saga?

So at least one more epistle of bluster and personal abuse from Finney no doubt which does not address the fatal flaws in his case. And now, if Ian Ward, is to be believed, Turner wants Island Line in the franchise … but for how long?

Guys; I was at the Hitachi Factory official opening last Thursday (I am a railway trade press journo)and asked Patrick McCloughlin about Island Line. He had no knowledge about the issue but his chief of staff did and the question I asked will be put in writing for a definitive reply on the question.

At last, ex councillor Pugh finally acknowledges the subsidy, even if he calls it a crude subsidy, he does concede it’s a subsidised railway. How very Green of him to discuss the wider public benefit, Vix will be pleased.

Pugh has acknowledged the subsidy from the start. He has also pointed out that it is not a GROSS subsidy, as SWT pay more to government in premium than they receive from government in revenue support. Finney is trying to make out that SWT receive a subsidy whilst ignoring the fact they also pay a premium. Presumably, this is so that the public think he is doing… Read more »

As Pugh rightly points out, you’d struggle to find routes outside the London commuter belt that recover their costs directly from fares, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t justified for their wider economic benefits and to provide a useful network

Wasn’t there a film entitled The Never-ending Story”?

It can’t have been as good as this. Pass the popcorn.

? A notion which, if not unique, will not be recognised by many aware of the facts. Private Eye certainly doesn’t agree.

Mr Finney doesn’t seem to understand the concept of business – not everything makes money or as much money as you would like, so you have a variety of different products (lines in this case) to produce a profit overall and provide the service that your customers want.

Kevin, this is not David Pugh trying to get revenge, all he is doing is looking at the figures that tell the story, bare in mind all the figures quoted can be seen by anyone, you only have to google it, or follow any links that have been shared. As for Thomas the Tank, maybe you should go to the island of sodor!!!! I have had many… Read more »

Just waiting for when the merchandise will be available for this saga? Guess there won’t be much of a Star Wars type queue for the Finney action (or should I say non-action) figure !
