Help Mhairi With Her ‘Big Sleep Out’

Ventnor lass, Mhairi Macaulay, will be roughing it for the night next week to help raise cash and awareness for Big Issue Foundation.

Mhairi tells us more about the challenge, “I will be sleeping in Spitalfields market on the 20th of May with 240 other people to have a taste of an experience on London streets and speak to Big Issue vendors about their experiences. I’ve never done a thing like this before, but aim to raise £400.

What is the Big Issue Foundation?
“The Big Issue Foundation is dedicated to the well being of Big Issue Vendors working with over 2900 individuals across the UK. Their skilled staff work one to one with vendors tackling issues ranging from health and accommodation through to money management and aspirations.

“The Big Issue Foundation is about taking control, moving forward, gaining independence and rebuilding lives. They exist to enable vendors to continue on their journey away from homelessness.

“Your kind support will help make the cold night that little bit easier. My effort, and your support, will make a big change to some one else’s life.”

How you can help
Mhairi says she was inspired by an exhibition by Paul Wenham Clarke exhibition in the crypt at St Martins in the Fields.

“I knew I had to sign up! The stories were harsh and inspiring, many of the people were lost and had no one to help them get back up.”

If you can help, pop over to Mhairi’s page to donate.
