Isle of Wight health and social care system leaders launched the Isle of Wight Dementia Strategy in May 2022, setting out a joint vision for improving dementia services and making the Island a place where people with a dementia can live safe and fulfilling lives.
Together with our voluntary sector partners, the Isle of Wight council and the Island’s NHS have worked hard over the past three years to raise the quality of dementia services and improve knowledge and awareness of dementia across the Island.
Refresh the Dementia Strategy
We are now starting work to refresh the Dementia Strategy, looking at what has already been achieved and where our continued efforts are needed to continue to drive improvements in dementia care and support for local people.
To do this we need your help. We need you to tell us about your experience of dementia services to understand what has worked well and what can be done better.
Share your views
We believe that your views and experiences are crucial in shaping a strategy that truly meets the needs of those affected by a dementia.
Please help us by completing our online questionnaire.
Paper copies of the survey will soon be available in local libraries, through Age UK IW, Alzheimer Café IW, Carers IW or can be collected from County Hall in Newport.
If you need help completing the questionnaire you can also visit the Dementia Cafe at Parklands in Cowes where help is available.
In addition to the questionnaire, we will be hosting four in-person events across the Island to facilitate open discussions and gather direct feedback. These events will provide an opportunity for attendees to engage with our team, share their stories, and contribute to the future direction of our Dementia Strategy.
Event Details:
- 22nd January, 10am to 1pm, The Broadway Centre, Sandown.
- 30th January, 1pm to 4pm, The Riverside Centre, Newport.
- 5th February, 1pm until 4pm, Parklands Cafe, Cowes.
- 11th February, 1pm until 4pm, West Wight Leisure Centre, Freshwater
These events will be held as an informal discussion providing people with the opportunity to sit down and give feedback to one of the team members, please arrive at any time between the hours stated above.
Take part in the online questionnaire.
Further information about dementia support is available on the council’s web page.
Closing date for questionnaires: 28th February 2025.
