At tonight’s (Thursday) Isle of Wight council Cabinet meeting, details of what happens next with the draft Island Planning Strategy (DIPS) were revealed.
The DIPS was rejected 18 votes to 16 at the Full Council meeting earlier this month, but it wasn’t clear what that meant for its future.
At tonight’s meeting, Cllr Paul Fuller, explained the next stages and confirmed the Planning Strategy had not gone away.
It’s heading back to Full Council
Cllr Fuller said,
“Cabinet notes the outcome of the Full Council meeting on 5th October where the motion tabled to agree the Draft IPS was not carried.
“As the meeting ran out of time on 5th October, we will await the outcome of the next Full Council meeting on 16th November where Full Council will no doubt agree the reasons that the Draft IPS is being returned to Cabinet.
“At that point we will review these reasons in detail before deciding on the most appropriate course of action.”
