This Saturday (3rd July 2021) see the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Canonisation of Saint Grand Duchess Elizabeth Romanov, a granddaughter of Her Majesty, Queen Victoria.
The event will be attended by HH The Princess Olga Romanov, a third cousin of Her Majesty The Queen, who was recently featured with Alexander Armstrong in a television documentary, titled The Queen’s Cousins.
The event has been organised by East Cowes resident, David Hill, who coordinated the erection of a monument to mark the centennial anniversary of the martyrdom of Tsar Nicholas II and The Imperial Russian Royal Family.
Sacred soil from Yekaterinburg
The service of celebration in East Cowes will be led by Father Paul Elliott, Chancellor of The ROCOR Diocese of London and Western Europe.
The most significant part of the service will be to install onto the monument to The Holy Martyrs the soil from Yekaterinburg, Russia where the remains of The Imperial Family were discovered – seen as sacred in the Orthodox faith.
The event will also be attended by a representative of the office of The Lord Lieutenant, along with other dignitaries.
TV crew in tow
The visit of Princess Olga Romanov – which is not the first to East Cowes – will also be accompanied by an ITV film crew who are working on a documentary in the build-up to the Platinum Jubilee of HM The Queen in 2022.

It begin at 11.30am on Saturday 3rd July at Jubilee Recreation Ground, York Avenue, East Cowes.
