Wildfire:

Heavy rain, high pollen count and a risk of wildfires, yes on the Isle of Wight

The Natural Hazards Partnership have just issued a warning for heavy rain, a high pollen count and risk of wildfires for this coming weekend.

They warn that as well as the heavy rain warning we received from the Met Office earlier, the Pollen Count is forecast to be HIGH and that Wildfire conditions are expected to become elevated from today (Friday) and remain elevated through the weekend.

They say,

Whilst wildfire conditions currently pose some threat across parts of England, wildfire conditions are expected to become more elevated from Friday and remain elevated through the weekend across large swathes of the UK, particularly from the Midlands southwards, including Wales. These enhanced conditions combined with increased human activity over the weekend (for example BBQs) gives the potential to lead to manageable wildfires.

The Isle of Wight is included in the areas at risk.

If you plan to use a disposable BBQ in the countryside, woodland or along the coast, please make sure you extinguish it fully, take your rubbish with you and leave no trace.

Coping with hayfever
If you suffer with hayfever, it’s worth noting alcohol can worsen the symptoms (so say The Met Office)
