High Sheriff's Award being presented on 8th December 22

High Sheriff recognises Pan Together for providing safe, non-judgmental space for East Newport residents

Pan Together – the charity which exists to support and provide a community hub for the residents of East Newport – has received an award from the Island’s High Sheriff, Kay Marriott JP in recognition of ‘great and valuable services to the community’.

The High Sheriff said,

“The volunteers and staff at Pan Together provide a safe non-judgmental space, providing the community with a cafe, a larder, a social hub, a learning environment, a training kitchen – to name just a few of the amazing facilities for the local community of East Newport.

“All the team give their time to enhance the lives of others, of all ages.  It was an honour to present a High Sheriff award to such a worthy recipient.”

Thomson: No one should have to choose between food, fuel and children’s clothes
Rachel Thomson, Community Centre Manager, said,

“This award is a real boost to our volunteers and staff, who have worked so hard to support local people in these grim and challenging times when the cost of living crisis is biting so hard for so many.

“Our community support and anti-poverty services are, sadly, increasingly essential.  No one should have to choose between food, fuel and children’s clothes.

“It is a great honour that our work providing direct and vital support to local families and households has been recognised by the High Sheriff.  We appreciate the recognition tremendously.”
