It was announced yesterday that the current CEO at the Earl Mountbatten Hospice is due to leave the hospice in February 2014.
Given the recent public interest in organisational changes at the Hospice, the announcement was followed by speculation with Islanders questioning whether Tina Harris was asked to leave.
A positive choice
OnTheWight can confirm that the decision was Tina’s and does not relate to the changes at the Hospice.
She told us,
“I understand that there has been some public speculation about the reasons for my choosing to leave the Hospice at this time, and I am happy to confirm that this is a very positive personal choice; one which brings opportunities for me and my children which I have been seeking for some time.
“The decision to leave has been made all the more difficult by the special nature of the work here at EMH, the challenges facing the organisation, and the commitment of those who have helped me to ensure that we are well-equipped to deal with them.
“There is important work still to do here, and I will always be a keen supporter of the remarkable people who contribute to it, and who put patient care above all else.”
Tina will be with the Hospice until February 2014, when an interim CEO will be appointed until a permanent replacement is found.
