Hospice networking event grows at Newclose Cricket Ground

This in from Erika on behalf of the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, Ed

It was the second such networking event held by the Hospice, as it looks to forge ever-stronger links with the local business community.

The sessions set out how businesses can assist hospice fundraising through steps such as providing volunteers, holding staff team events, having retail donation days or simply hosting a collection tin. But they are also a chance for businesses to air their own suggestions as to how they can support the sessions.

Ideas shared
Ideas given at the recent Newclose Cricket Ground event included offers to supply training and goods at cost price, cost price heating checks for outpatients, their families and carers and even an offer to become a trustee.

Goodwill amongst Island businesses
EMH chief executive Jo Blackburn, who led the hospice team at the event, said that once again she had been left hugely impressed and encouraged by the determination of the Island’s business community to support patient care,

“This is the second such networking event we have held and it was pleasing to see that the number of attendees has grown. What has remained constant however is the goodwill that exists within the Island’s business community. We were so encouraged by the positivity of those who attended as well as by the actual offers of assistance that were made.”

More networking events on the way
Katie Radburn, Corporate and Major Donor fundraiser added:

“We will be organizing another event soon and hope to develop further relationships with Island business men and women. We would also like to say a big thank you to Phil Tredwell at Newclose for hosting the event for the Hospice.”

If any businesses are interested in networking with the Hospice and other Island businesses the next event is yet to be confirmed but those interested can register their interest to attend by contacting Katie on 01983 528989 or [email protected].
