Hospice to be considered as Special Purchaser for Oak House

Next week members of the newly formed Property Disposal and Capital Programme Sub Committee will be considering a proposal to treat the Earl Mountbatten Hospice as a Special Purchaser for the sale of a council-owned property.

Oak House in Halberry Lane, Newport was previously occupied by both the council and Primary Care Trust (PCT) for office and clinic purposes. The building was and vacated in April this year following the final relocation of PCT services to the St Mary’s Hospital.

Children’s palliative care centre
The Hospice are hoping to purchase the site to establish Oak House as a centre for children’s palliative care.

The officer’s report recommends Earl Mountbatten Hospice be treated as a Special Purchaser “subject to a further report to confirm that the council is achieving best consideration from this disposal”.
