Hovertravel’s commuter passengers have had to be very patient this week as the service has been running with just one craft.
The change to service came into operation after an incident on Sunday evening which saw a small fire break out on the Island Express. There were no passengers or staff on board except the pilot who was carrying out his last checks before disembarking.
Replacement fire suppressant
Luckily the automatic fire system kicked in to suppress the fire, but meant Hovertravel had to take the craft out of service until a replacement bottle of fire suppressant could be delivered.
We understand that has now happened and the bottle fitted, so HoverTravel are back to a normal two craft service.
