Morning all – hope you all had a fantastic new year.
Have a look out of the window and you’ll see that it’s a chilly one this morning, as is evident by the frost on the cars.
We understand that the IW Council has been out gritting major roads to try to minimise the impact of the ice on the roads, but there are concerns about untreated roads with a danger of black ice on them.
Peter Hayward, Isle of Wight Council Head of Highways and Transport said: “Our gritting team will be working around the clock to ensure the main routes are treated during this cold snap. Despite this, I would urge all road users to take extra care over coming days as there is a risk of isolated icy patches on untreated roads.”
In short … allow extra time for your journey and … be careful out there people.
