Following our news about the Ikea-fication of one of Red Funnel’s car ferries, we’ve more info for you.
The lovely people at Red Funnel have been in touch to give us some more details.
It is indeed the Red Osprey ferry that has been re-branded in IKEA’s familiar blue and yellow livery.
It will remain so for the next 12 months, bringing to the attention of Red Funnel’s three million passengers that the big yellow one is making its wares available in Southampton, quite possibly creating a house redecoration frenzy both in the south of the UK and across the Isle of Wight.
Isle of Wight Deliveries
One question that’s been on people’s lips since it was first mooted that Ikea was landing in the locale, was the matter of transporting the Swedish-inspired purchases back to the Island from Ikea mothership in Southampton.
Well dear reader, we can reveal that Red Funnel will be providing Ikea’s home delivery service.
Allesandra Taffe, store manager of Southampton IKEA, was also pretty excited after having seen the ferry, “The ferry looks fantastic and we’re all really looking forward to seeing it on the water. It also shows how committed we are to residents of the Isle of Wight by ensuring they have access to our furniture.”
Big-up the Isle of Wight!
